Import file to a folder
完了Hi,
Is there a way to import a file (.xlsx, .docx etc.) directly to a folder ? I tried selecting the folder and importing the file but it gets saved to the root directory rather than the folder selected.

Fantastic news!
The option to choose what folder a file is imported into is now available in Workiva! Thanks for your patience and feedback along the way. Give us a holler if there are any questions about this feature change. Keep staying awesome in the meantime. Cheers!
Hello and welcome to the Community, Harsh!
Happy to help answer this question for ya. To confirm, you are referring to importing a file, correct, and not uploading it? Assuming that, I tested and saw the same thing you described. I also confirmed with our Product Team that this is expected, currently. You can, after its imported, move the file and/or drag and drop to the folder you want.
I've passed along your feedback here as well in relation to having the imported file either a) take the folder location you are at when doing the import, or b) provide a dropdown option on the import pop-up that asks which folder to add the file to when imported.
In the meantime, let me know what questions you have for me, and if you need anything else. Thanks for your contributions and have a great rest of your day!
1Is there an open ticket for this for the product team that our account can be added to? This would be an extremally helpful feature, especially as we encourage more users to leverage the tool.
0You bet, Stephanie! I'll get you added as a requestor and will keep you updated going forward. Thanks for chiming in!
0Hi Mike, is there a way to choose the folder a file is being imported to when using the API? I am not able to find any reference on the documentation https://developers.workiva.com/platform-v1/platform-importfile/
Thanks!
0There is a way to choose the folder a file is being imported to when using the API! You can find documentation here.If you click this “FileImport” under parameters....You’ll see an example that shows defining the “container” that the import is going into0Hi Isabel, thank you for your answer
Aren’t the parameters you’re displaying for File rather than FileImport?
Below the ones I am using to create the fileimport URL. In any case, I tried adding container as a property but it was ignored
Am I missing something?
