    Hi Peter Molnar,

Great news, your patience has paid off. Just released to Wdesk is now the option to insert a symbol in Spreadsheets. To access, activate a cell and then from the Edit menu, choose Insert > Symbol. From there you can browse and select symbols from the Symbol Library option, or click the symbol to see a full listing.

Let me know if you have any questions or need anything else. Thanks again and happy Tuesday!

    Hi Peter,

You are correct, currently the ability to insert a symbol is not yet available in next gen Spreadsheets. Our Product Team expects to have this available towards the end of this year. In the meantime I thought I'd share one workaround with you.

    Insert a unicode
One way you can do this is either a unicode insert, or with a font. Inserting a unicode character is a couple step process. Essentially you need to find the character you want (here's an online resource: https://unicodelookup.com/) and then use the code listed to insert it into a Word file with the ALT + X method outlined here, and then copy that character into Wdesk.

This particular method is a bit more tech savvy so the second method might be preferrable.

    Use the Wingdings fonts
By default, Wdesk has the font "Wingdings" and its variants available. These fonts have a lot of symbols and characters within them. I went through and made a quick view of what is available right out of the box. Here they are:

Hopefully either of the two methods help. I'll let you know if we have any further developments in the meantime. Thanks as always!

Mike - I do not see the new option for inserting symbols in spreadsheets.  Is this something that was released and subsequently retracted?

    Hi Tina Schaeufele!

In a Spreadsheet (or table within a Document) it can be hard to get at initially. You actually need to double-click inside the cell to get that menu to pop up, like so:

Once you have that selected, you can insert any symbol into your cell.

Hopefully that helps. Let me know what questions you have for me in the meantime. Thanks, and have a great day!
