Spreadsheet Permissions - Spreadsheet vs. Current Sheet
回答済みI am currently rolling forward an entire project and want to "lock" the prior year spreadsheets. However, when applying permissions to the overall spreadsheet, the new permissions don't "flowthrough" to the current sheet. So, for example. . . even though the spreadsheet has "viewer only" access for EVERYONE (except myself, the owner), the "current sheet" permissions sill have everyone as an"editor".
While in the "current sheet" permissions screen, there is also a statement saying "66 sheet permissions differ from spreadsheet (reset link)". I have HUNDREDS of "current sheets". Do I need to go into each sheet to reset all of these permissions? Is there an easier way? Or is there an easier way using the "lock cells' functionality that doesn't involve going into each and every cell on each sheet?
I also experimented with permission sets, but that seems to give me the same issue. . . .

Hi Brian,
What you are seeing is expected behavior. Changing or adding Permission Sets as well will not alter the sub-sections, i.e. sheets, of a spreadsheet, only the spreadsheet itself. Sadly there's not an easier way than visiting each sheet one-by-one to alter their permissions within the Spreadsheet itself. This is something our Product Team is looking into and I've shared your situation with them. I'll keep you update here with any new developments going forward.
In the meantime, let me know if you have any questions for me or need anything else. Thanks for your valued feedback and have a great day!0Thank you for your reply and for keeping me posted (in advance)! 0We have a similar situation where it would be extremely helpful to alter permissions for multiple sheets at once. Is there any update on this? 0We have the same concerns about this and I think the only solution is to wait for the "freeze documents" to be available for spreadsheets. Our solution is to keep each section of the entire spreadsheet the same (go into every section and reset properties) so that we can change the entire spreadsheet to view only when rolling forward. 0Hi all!
I do have a bit of an update for you concerning the ability to bulk change sheet permissions, and its good news too! Our Product Team is very near having an Advanced Permissions Editor, or APE, available for Spreadsheets. If you are unfamiliar with the APE in classic Wdesk, this feature allows you to quickly add, edit or remove users and/or groups to an entire document or individual sections (sheets) of the document from one overall view. It will behave much the same in Spreadsheets, but with an improved, sleeker interface. We anticipate this to become available in the coming weeks, so I'll be sure to ping you on here as soon as its available but you can also follow the What's New category to keep updated.
In the meantime, thanks so much for chiming in. Give me a holler with any questions. Thanks again and have a super day!0Has this original issue been resolved?
I'm currently experiencing it...
Thanks
0Hi Edward!
Welcome to the community. Happy to help.
Today, yes, the Advanced Permission matrix is accessible for Spreadsheets. Are you seeing something different in your own Workspace?
