Hello and welcome to the Community, Linda!

I have good news for you. You can both copy/paste and import MS Office documents directly into Wdesk. To import, you can click on the +Create button in Wdesk Home and choose Import. From there you have a list of options, like so:

If you notice any oddities with your import, I can also recommend this post about improving DOCX imports. In the meantime, let me know if you have any questions on the above or need anything else. Always happy to help! Thanks and looking forward to seeing you out there. Cheers!

Thank you so much! I am creating a project with documents for a Binder. Next year when I copy the project we just continue to update the Word document? Is the any advantage to creating a WDesk document over the word? I really appreciate you help!

    No problem, Linda!

Yes, when you go to copy the project and roll it forward, anything found within the project would also be copied, e.g. the imported Word document.  So you would update the new copied document, which would be a carbon copy of the old but now completely separate. Does that make sense?

There are many advantages to creating and editing in Wdesk as opposed to Word. For example, in Wdesk you are always working on the newest version of your document and you can control access to it as a whole or per section, so you don't have to worry about document versions or wondering who is making edits. There are other advantages too, but those jump out to me initially.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy Friday!

The directions were EXCELLENT! I am an "experienced" gal, and have never had a need for Visual Basic in my roles.  But, I did it, and it is exactly what I wanted! Thank you so much! Have a great weekend!

    Hi Mike,

I have used the Visual Basic instructions along with the importing instructions you sent in the post link above a few times successfully.  I am attempting to do this again today, and I keep getting a translation error.  Do you know what may be causing this?

    Thanks,

    Linda

    Hi Linda,

Regarding this post, one thing to check, when you save are you saving from the Visual Basic window or from the Word document? Saving from the Visual Basic 'Immediate Window' may result in that error, versus saving from the Word document itself. That's the first thing that jumps out to me for that error.

Aside from that, I'm not aware of the cause of that specific error. If possible, can I get a screen image of the error that pops up for you? That might help in diagnosing the possible cause.

Thanks for reaching out and talk to you soon. Cheers!
