    Hi Michelle,

I assume you are linking from a next generation Spreadsheet to a classic Wdesk Document, correct? If that is the case, you do need to copy and paste from the link source to create a new destination link within the document. When you paste something like this, you will likely receive this message:

This is because of the interplay between the next generation and classic products. Pasting a combination of source links and destination links from a Spreadsheet does work as expected when pasting to a next generation Document.

Hope this helps answer you question and explain a bit of why you are seeing what you are seeing. If you are curious about next generation Documents, you can visit this site: https://success.workiva.com/next-generation. And depending on what solution you are working in Wdesk, you may or may not already have access to next generation Documents and can possibly transition to them, or at least try them out. Your CSM would certainly know for sure.

Thanks for reaching out, and let me know what other questions you have. Have a great day in the meantime. Cheers!

Interesting...I do believe we are still in classic for the documents because I think spreadsheets was just an add on for us. Oddly enough, that message did not pop up for me so I had no idea this was the reason why it wasn't working. Thank you for the information. Off hand, are there any other issues that you can think of or functions that will not work given our mix of classic and next gen?

Indeed, interesting that you didn't see that message, though you do have to hover over the greyed out "Create Links from..." a bit before it pops up.

No worries, I understand there. Regarding you question, there aren't any issues I'm aware of with functions between classic and next generation. Overall you'll be able to do more with next generation than with classic, but they should have basic feature parity.

Give me a holler if you need anything else. Thanks again, and have a super day!
