Which fonts will EDGAR accept?
Con rispostaI can't find it now, but I could swear that I saw a post or article somewhere about EDGAR allowing more fonts. In the past, our filings always rendered in Times New Roman, but apparently, between our Q220 and Q320 10-Qs, they started rendering in our Corporate font. We've just updated our Brand, including the font, so I am wondering what that will do to the EDGAR renderings. Anyone have any information?

Hi Jennifer!
I am happy to answer this question for you!
Historically, EDGAR has always allowed whatever font you want but the caveat here is that doesn’t mean it will display with your desired font on every viewer’s browser. HTML fonts are basically a suggestion and web browsers can and will use alternatives.
For example, if the person viewing the filing does not have the same font installed locally, the browser will pick an alternative font in the same family, i.e. Helvetica for sans serif fonts or Times New Roman for serif fonts, resulting in something slightly different and possibly less than desirable.
The only truly safe way to ensure your corporate font is shown is to provide an accompanying PDF of the filing with the fonts embedded within it.
Hopefully that helps. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
0A quick update here.
Below is a list of the web-safe fonts available on both Mac and Windows systems. If there are concerns about making sure a the same font used in Workiva is shown on the sec.gov website after filing, use one of these fonts:
-
Comic Sans
-
Courier or Courier New
-
Garamond
-
Georgia
-
Impact
-
Palatino
-
Tahoma
-
Trebuchet MS
-
Verdana
Happy filing, friends!
