WDesk Spreadsheet Formatting Issues
Con rispostaHi, I've noticed inconcistent behavior of values in a spreadsheet if the format of the spreadsheet is set as "Entered in Millions" / "Shown in Millions". For example if you enter number 10 it will be shown as 10 (A1), but if you multiply 10 * 1 it will become 10000000000000 (B1) and will be shown as 10000000 (B1).
If you enter values 10 (A1) and 20 (A2), then divide 10/20 (C1) you will get 0.5 (C1) (that expected), but it will be shown as 0.0000005 (C1)

Hello!
Thank you for your observation. For that example, When you multiply 10*1, and have "entered in" millions, then the spreadsheet thinks you mean 10 million times 1 million. This is where that 10 trillion number comes from. The same concept applies for the second example. You are dividing 10 million by 20 million, but have it "shown in" millions. So displaying (one half) in millions should be a decimal with six zeros following it, followed by a 5. Often the value formatting preference is to actually have the source be shown in "Ones and Ones," then show the value as Millions or Thousand. If you are wanting the value to be shown as 0.5, that cell should be "Entered in Ones" and "Shown In Ones." Does that make sense?
Please don't hesitate to reach out if further explanation or instruction is needed.
Thank you.
