Fantastic news! Not only has XLOOKUP been taken out of purgatory, but it has also been now released to the Workiva Platform for use, along with a slew of other formulas. 🥳
Thanks so much for your patience and feedback along the way. We couldn't have done it without you. And have a happy holiday season!🎄🥂
Hi,
I strongly support the addition of XLOOKUP to bring Workiva spreadsheets up to date with current Excel functionality. We leverage Workiva spreadsheets extensively to map our financial statements from a trial balance import and have to currently uses outmoded and somewhat cumbersome functions such as index/match to achieve this. XLOOKUP would make this process much more efficient and transparent to the spreadsheet creators and reviewers.
Thanks in advance for your consideration,
1Mike I agree with Thomas McKinney; XLOOKUP is a much more comprehensive function than VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP and much more user friendly than INDEXMATCH. Please consider adding XLOOKUP functionality to Workiva. Thank you!
0Thanks for sharing your insights Rebecca Horsley 😎
1Is there any update regarding xlookup functionality being added to Workiva? Mike
1Welcome to the community, Adrienne!
Sadly, there's not any new updates for XLOOKUP and it remains unplanned. Definitely happy to add your request for it though. Each little bit helps.
1Hope XLOOKUP gets added as well. This is an very helpful in Excel as my team uses it a lot and would love to have that capability in Workiva as well. Thumbs up on this request.
1That is FANTASTIC news indeed! Good Christmas surprise right here! Looking forward to the full list of new formulas that were added!
Thanks Mike
0Great Job! Amazing formula!! It eases a lot the search for data in a specific coordinate!
0Awesome! This was the most awaited formula. Great Work!!!
0It's helpful to have the XLOOKUP function and am wondering if like in Excel, Wdesk supports multi-column return_ranges? In this example, a single formula can return both Name and Dept from the EmpID value. Wdesk XLOOKUP appears to support only a single column return_range because it generates a "Ranges cannot be displayed in cells" error. Does it support single column ranges only or am I missing something in the formula?
0Thanks for sharing, Michael!
0It would be super helpful if xlookup formula can incorporate multiple look-up criteria. This would help the end user avoid creating a separate col to CONCATENATE formula. Currently, if I were to put this xlookup formula, it would error out.

0It's great to have XLOOKUP on Workiva. But I agree with Karen Cheung and was even going to post the same thing recently. This would enhance the value of Workiva's XLOOKUP and bring parity with Excel in this regard.
0Thanks much for your added input, Karen and Andrew. We'll be sure to get this info shared and keep you apprised of future developments for sure.
0+1 for the multi-column return and multi-lookup criteria features for the XLOOKUP formula.
