Hello and welcome to the Community, Rozen!
A great question, and happy to help answer this one.
Yes, you can duplicate a chart, at least in sense. While there's no direct option to duplicate it, you can copy and paste a chart and it will come over exactly as the copied chart looks. To copy, click on a chart until you get the blue outline. Then use the keystroke for copy (CTRL+C or ⌘+C) and then paste (CTRL+V or ⌘+V) in the desired location and the copied chart will paste in.
In addition to the formatting, the chart data will be maintained as well and any linked values there will also be linked to the same source, which you may need to unlink to apply new values.
Hopefully this helps answer your question. Give me a holler if I've missed the mark here or you have any questions on the above. Thanks for your contributions and have a great rest of your day!
0Hello,
While the solution appears to work for charts created within Spreadsheets and Presentations, the solution does not appear to work for charts within Documents. For example, if I create a chart within a Document, copying and pasting only allows for the resulting copy to be an image and not a fully functional chart. Can you please clarify if there is limited functionality for duplicates charts within Documents?
Thank you.
0Hi Christopher!
You should be able to duplicate a Chart within a Document, though you don't get the same selectors you do in a Presentation. To copy the Chart, you have to click and drag across the Chart to highlight it, like so:
With it highlighted like that, you can copy it (CTRL+C) and then place your cursor where you'd like to duplicate it and then paste it (CTRL+V). Deleting the chart would also work the same way, i.e. highlighting it by dragging across and then hitting 'delete' on your keyboards.
Does this method work for you, or have I missed the mark? Let me know what follow-ups you have and if you need anything else. Thanks!
0Thank you! For some reason, at the time, I was only able to duplicate the chart was a JPEG. Trying it now as you suggested worked as expected (i.e., pastes as chart and not image). Not sure what caused that for me, but no issues now. Thanks! I appreciate the response.
0No problem! Glad to hear this got sorted for you. 😎
0Adding to this, is there a way to duplicate a chart from Presentations to a Document?
0Hello and welcome, Alice!
Great questions. Happy to answer.
The good news is yes, you can. If you highlight a chart in your Presentation file and then use the keystroke CTRL+C (or ⌘+C on Mac) and then navigate to your Document and use the keystroke CTRL+V (⌘+C on Mac) the chart should be pasted.
Let me know if I've missed the mark there or you have any follow-ups for me. Thanks again and have a great day in the meantime!
