Sum IF wildcard
Con rispostaWould anyone know anyway to do a sum if wild card formula similar to Excel formula below in spreadsheets?
=SUMIF(RANGE,("text"&"*"),SUM_RANGE)

Howdy, Victoria!
Wildcards are one of my fav's so I got you. You can set it up in a Spreadsheet like so:
In this case you need to have the wildcard setup surrounded on either side by a "*" and a &. I should note too that it would work if the value you had as your wildcard were referenced in a cell, so in my case I could have written the word "cat" in a cell and pointed to that. Does that make sense?
Let me know what questions you have for me, or if you need anything else. Thanks much and stay amazing!
0Hi Mike,
My formula was set up like your but because it was looking up to number values I wasn't producing any values. I realized after reading your message that I had to copy the spreadsheet and format them as text to get them to work!!
Thank you for the help!!
0Ah yes, good call there. A number value might behave differently for sure, but glad you were able to resolve. Good catch!
