Lock / Unlock Cell Shading
Con risposta-
Hi Christopher,
The good news is you can toggle your view to see which cell(s) are locked and which are not. From the View tab, click the option for Overlay. This will open up the panel on the right, and calls out to you what the overlay coloring means. By default, the Locked Cells have a grey overlay, and the Unlocked Cells are blue. Furthermore, you can filter this view to other items too, if you wanted, but Locked Cells is the default. Here's an example:
Thanks for the question and have a great rest of you day!0Hi,
Then how to unlock / relock the formula in the cell? Thanks,
0Hi Sally,
In order to lock and unlock cells, you must be the Document Owner. Once you have formatted your cells, select the cells that you would like to lock. From your Edit toolbar, click Lock and this should prevent any further changes. You can double check which cells you have locked using Overlay in the View toolbar. Locked cells will be shown in gray, and unlocked cells are blue.
Please let me know if I've missed the mark or you have any follow-up questions!
Thank you,
Tori
0Hi there,
I like the Overlay feature. When copying Q3 to Q1, is there a way to unlock all the cells in the spreadsheet? It looks like we have to manually go to each sheet with locked cells, highlight the locked cells and click on Unlock. Is there an easier way to unlock all cells in the entire spreadsheet (rather than section by section)?
0Hi Dale!
Today there's not a bulk unlock for the Lock Cells feature, so you'd have to do that sheet by sheet. However, you could instead utilize the Lock Edits feature which can be bulk unlocked. Let me know if that answers your question or you have any follow-ups for me.
