I have run into this as well and I think the tables have to be inline and not floating for this function to work.

Megan thank you for your question! If you need to link a number or a sentence within a cell, you will need to:

    1. Select the Text: Highlight the specific text within the table cell that you want to use as a source link.
    2. Create Source Link: Right-click the text and select Create Source Link from the context menu.
    3. Copy and Paste: Once the source link is created, you can copy the linked text using CTRL + C (or Cmd + C on Mac) and paste it into any document or cell where you'd like it to be a destination link.
    4. Publish Links: After linking, you may need to publish link changes so that all destinations update correctly with the source content .This method ensures that the selected text from a table cell can be effectively turned into a source link, maintaining consistency across your documents.

Do let me know if you have any further questions!

Megan Hi there! After re-reading this, I am realizing partially misspoke in my suggestions as at this time it is not possible to create source links via sub-cell linking. This is something that we are looking at adding as a feature enhancement and I will go ahead and add you as a requestor there. Apologies for any confusion and do feel free to reach out with any additional questions. Thanks!
