Image Compression Best Practices

Hi,

Was wondering if there's a best practice for image compression for adding images to wdesk presentations?

It doesn't seem like there is currently a way to compress images directly within workiva so was wondering if there is an estimated ppi or image file size for best results when exporting to pdf and not making the file as a whole too large but maintaining high quality for printing?

    As someone who used to do graphic design work, I think I've thought about this more than most.

    In presentations, I prefer to use PNG at 300dpi. I think that's a nice balance between file size and image quality.

    In SEC EDGAR docs, you're limited to JPG and GIF. PNG is not allowed. JPG works great for photos, and I stick with 300dpi. GIF works great for line art, forms, drawings and signatures, keeping the images crisp with super low file sizes, but GIF doesn't work well for photos. If I need to batch compress JPGs (e.g. officer and director photos), I've been using IrfanView.

    As time goes on, I find I'm worried about how it looks on paper a lot less, and more about how it will look on a high resolution iPad.
