We'd like to be kept up to to date on the progress of this as well. Q2 was our first quarter on next generation and we weren't aware this wasn't an option. Is it safe to assume if we begin to transition some of our older Classic documents that they will "unfreeze"? Thanks!

And to answer your question, yes, you CAN transition a frozen file and when transitioned, they are unfrozen, i.e. thawed.

Mike Davis At the conference they mentioned the ability to change permissions by folder instead of by document (as a work around for Freezing). Is this something that we can do now? If so, how do you do it because I'm not seeing that option when I right click on a folder.

Hi Robert!
Currently, Folder Permissions (as mentioned on our Help site) is in a phased roll out process and the most recent phase of accounts occurred this past week. We anticipate having all Workspaces enabled with this setting by the end of the year. I should add that the this first pass of Folder Permission does NOT include flow through of permissions into the contents found within the folder, so in this scenario it wouldn't work as a workaround for freezing, in that case. This functionality is definitely planned, but just not in the first roll out.

Hi Mike, We have changed all of our permissions but as document owner I cannot change myself to viewer so the file is technically not locked and thus this solution does not work for us.

Could you clarify if the freeze function is under active development, or will changing folder permissions be the only workaround for the foreseeable future?

Phillip Sanks - yes, I can clarify that a "freeze" functionality is being developed and should be released in early 2021. I've got your feedback connected as well. FWIW too, the initial roll-out of Folder Permissions does not include permission inheritance, i.e. the contents within the folder assuming the permission of the folder. This is something that is coming, but wanted to let you know.

Currently this feature remains planned but I don't have a specific timeline for its release, except that it WILL happen, and certainly in 2021. As you probably saw, I added you to our list of requestors so you can get updated as it progresses. I'll also keep this post updated too.
