Indenting text in a table

I am working in a table without links and need to indent the second line of a cell in several consecutive cells (in other words a hanging indent).  This is very time consuming to select the text and change the paragraph properties in each individual cell.  Is there a way to highlight the consecutive cells and make a hanging indent or copy the paragraph properties of one cell to others?

Christy Mazza sorry for the delay in getting to you. The solution above should also work for non-linked values in embedded tables too. To apply the workaround for the hanging indent, you have to select the chunk of text in your cell and then from the Paragraph Properties option change the First Line to -0.125 in and the Left to 0.125 in. That should create the look of a hanging indent. Let me know if you still have questions there or need anything else.

Diana Rosado one way you could do this is to change the Style Guide for Normal (Tables) to have the setting mentioned above. Then Publish that setting and select the cells in question and change them to Normal (Tables).  Let me know what questions you have there, or if you need anything else.

In the meantime, I've definitely passed along your interest with hanging indents and a ruler bar for cells in next gen. Stay tuned here for any new developments there. Thanks much and and have a great day!

    Hi Mike,

Just want to add my 2 cents again.  I also find it annoying that you have to select the text in each cell and adjust the First Line and Left to make the indent.  The issue is worse when you need the indent in multiple rows to line up correctly.  So I have to manually check that it is "-0.125" for example, instead of "-0.1833" (which  somehow shows up sometimes in odd decimal increments when you use the up and down buttons).  It would be so nice if you can just copy the format from another cell or select multiple cells at the same time to adjust the indent.

    Thanks.

Your input is always appreciated Lena L! I too was a little miffed that the format painter wouldn't carry over the workaround's paragraph formatting, but I can at least confirm our Product Team is working hard on releasing the ruler bar for table and Spreadsheet cells. We recently also had a request for the option to paste only formatting, which is something we're looking into adding as well. I'll pass along your feedback here and keep you posted. Thanks as always and if you're at Amplify 2020 today, feel free to stop by the Extended Learning booth in the Expo. Take care and stay great!

    Hi,

Has this feature been added? How can I quickly add in hanging indents to text within existing tables? I saw that you said this feature would be available in Q3 but I didn't see an explanation as to how to apply this without breaking a link or adding -/+ indentation.

    Thank you

    Hi Joy Duncan!

At this time this enhancement has yet to be released. I double checked with our Product Team on the updated roadmap for this and its looking like it will be available early Q4, hopefully by the end of November. I'll keep you posted when that is for sure released, but I've also got a request for you going here too. Let me know what questions you have in the meantime. Thanks as always for your feedback and have a happy Wednesday!

Hi - We just moved over to NextGen and I'm so disappointed to see the hanging indent/ruller bar feature is not working in NextGen. Any update on if the team will be able to get this done by the end of the month?

    Thanks!

    Hi Juliette!

While I'm excited to see you're working in next gen, I'm sorry to hear of your disappointment for sure. I've got your request for this connected and documented with our Product Team. The good news is in chatting with our Product Team on this, I can confirm that yes, this enhancement is on track to be released to Workiva by end of the month--likely sooner.

Certainly I'll update this post when it is released, but you can also stay apprised by following What's New too. Thanks much for your input and have a great rest of your day!
