Workday Connector for Financial Reporting
RespondidaI’m currently exploring how to leverage the Workiva connector to Workday ERP for financial reporting purposes. Specifically, I’m looking to build spreadsheets in Workiva that can pull data directly from Workday using the Workiva connector.
To help guide this effort, I’m hoping to find:
- Examples or demos of how other teams have used the Workiva–Workday integration for financial reporting.
- Insights into the types of reports commonly built using this setup (e.g., trial balance).
- Any best practices or lessons learned from similar implementations.
If you have done a similar implementation and are willing to connect to share your experience I would really appreciate it!

Hi Bethany Dohnal,
You could achieve this by making use of the Workday Connector and the Download Custom Report Command. A custom report that is enabled as a web service and generates the required data will need to be built within Workday. Once you have the data from Workday, the Workiva Connector and either the Write Sheet Data or Overwrite Sheet Data Commands can be use to send the data to a Sheet.
As far as some best practices, keep in mind that Spreadsheets have limits which should be considered when building your Chain. If you will be hitting these limits, Wdata would be a great choice for loading the data to. Comparing Data Storage Capacity: Spreadsheets vs Tables has more information on this topic.
