I understand that the XBRL validation within Workiva only verifies whether the tagging is technically correct, but it does not flag or present errors if required sections - per EDGAR filing requirements - have been left untagged.

What tools does Workiva offer to help ensure tagging complies with EDGAR requirements and that all necessary elements are tagged?

Is there a checklist or automated feature available to support compliance and complete tagging?

    Thanks for this question. Happy to help here.

    One way you can ensure that items are tagged is by finding untagged numbers. This info can be found in the preview mode of the iXBRL Viewer.

    It should show up in the upper right hand corner of your screen (see screenshot below)

    That said, there are other items that need to be tagged now that aren't values, such as Cybersecurity and Insider Trading. Some items when not tagged will show up as a Data Quality Error, but that is not the case for most items. We encourage too that customer follow key Community topics, such as EDGAR Next, Workiva Updates, and Regulatory Updates, because there will be posts there regarding new requirements (for example there were posts for Cybersecurity and Insider Trading, outlining the requirements).

    Lastly, to stay up-to-date on the latest tagging requirements, customers may want to look into a XBRL services from Workiva to ensure all requirements for XBRL are met. Let me know what questions you have here.
