Feature Request – Time Format (Hours and Minutes) in Spreadsheets Workiva
I am experiencing an issue with time formatting in spreadsheet cells within the platform. Currently, Workiva interprets decimal numbers in base 10, which affects calculations involving hours and minutes.
Identified Issue:
- When I enter values like
3:35(representing 3 hours and 35 minutes) and3:30 (3 hours and 30 minutes), the system treats them as decimal numbers (3.35and3.30) instead of a base 60 time format (hours and minutes). - This causes errors when summing time periods, as Workiva does not correctly convert minutes when they exceed 60.
Suggested Solution:
It would be extremely helpful to include a time (hours and minutes) cell formatting option within the "Value Formatting" section, allowing users to configure cells to correctly interpret values in the hh:mm format.
I have attached a screenshot illustrating the issue. This enhancement would help eliminate the need for manual formulas to convert decimal values into real-time durations.
Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to your response regarding the feasibility of this suggestion.

It would be very helpful to be able to work with the hour format in Workiva.
3Having the ability to work with the hour format in Workiva would be extremely useful.
