Exporting Comments to DOCX in thread
RespondidaIs there a way to keep comments in their threads when exporting a document to DOCX? Currently once I export to Word, each comment is showing as an individual comment, which makes it hard to follow a conversation.

Hi Kayleigh McManaman and welcome to the Community!
Unfortunately, there is currently no native way to preserve comment threads in their grouped/threaded format when exporting to DOCX. Workiva's DOCX export does include comment replies, but how Word renders them depends on the version of Word being used. The threading experience in Workiva doesn't translate 1:1 into Word's comment model. Word displays each comment as an individual comment, which breaks the conversational thread structure from Workiva. One alternative, would be to export to PDF instead. PDF exports do preserve the full comment thread when opened in Adobe AcrobatYou can also download comments as CSV.1. Go to Home > Comments > Download
2. Open in Excel, filter by document name to isolate relevant comments (including thread replies)
2. The CSV includes the comment trail, date, author, and section context
3. You can then copy this into a Word file manuallyFor the CSV export, the Editor role can only see/export comments a user was authored or tagged in. Workspace Owner or Comment Admins can view and download all workspace comments.0Thank you! One issue I've encountered when exporting to PDF is that it contains all comments and they appear to be locked so I can't delete any from the exported PDF. We need to send our auditors proof of a specific control owner's review, so we don't want to have everyone's comments in the file. We tried to use the Review function to narrow down comments, but that doesn't capture any comments that may be left outside of the review.
