Resource Limit Enforcement

Request Demo

Are API resource limits (429 limits) enforced per OAuth client ID, workspace / org, endpoint, or backend copy-service capacity?

I am looking into occasional 429 errors experienced in my organization's workspace and am curious if another API grant for a specific, heavier-load process will decrease the rate of these errors.

Thank you for the informative response Isabel Messore !

I have received a 429 error temporarily - 429TooManyRequests - but this does not return this error for the remainder of the day. Is there also a temporary lock out if the workspace is fulfilling a request and gets others at the same time?

Hi Joe Rufolo,

Limits are enforced at the Workspace level. A 429 error can be returned if you've exceeded request frequency or based on current system loads. It is recommended to inspect the 'Retry-After' response header when it is provided. You can get more detailed information on API rate limits here https://support.workiva.com/hc/en-us/articles/39769353572756-Wdata-feature-and-API-limits#h_01HERJ9PRCDHY9N7794H0T0B3Z.
