Quick update for ya'll here. Added in Dec. 2022 was the option to include Document Markup in the Copy settings for a file.

If you are using the Designed Reporting solution, you can also copy and include floating smart objects too. Thanks for your patience and feedback. We couldn't have done it without you!

    Hi Robert,

Thank you for your feedback regarding rollover tick marks. I will create a ticket and share it with our product team for further review. Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime!

    Thank you!

Good news here, Robert. Copying a file and including the markup is planned and should likely be available yet this quarter, if not early into Q2. We'll keep you apprised here, and also through the usual release communications. Thanks for the note and have a great day!

    Hi Mike,

I am fairly new to Workiva, but quickly found that I really need the markup copied in some files.  Any update on this release?

    Hi Melissa!

We are very close to having this feature generally available. We'll let you know you here for sure, but also stay tuned to Release Notes for that update. Thanks for the note and let us know if you need anything else. Cheers!

    Hi Mike,

I am still pretty new to Workiva, but was wondering if my question relates to this post at all (I think it does). I was wondering if a markup I made in one document will stay as I roll from quarter to quarter, will it copy over? I think I saw something related to this in the Release Notes, but just wanted to get your clarification on it. Thanks!

    Welcome to the community, Hunter!

Happy to answer this for ya. There was a recent released that allowed attachments to be copied along with a copied file. However, this first phase does NOT included copying any markup. That is planned and will be coming, but as of today only attachments will be copied (if chosen).

Hopefully that helps answer your question. Let me know too if you're interested in this feature, and I get you connected so you can stay updated there. Thanks and have a great day!

When markup within attachments are able to be copied, will that include markup in the document as well? And is there an updated estimate for when either (or both) functionalit[ies] will be available?

Hello and welcome to the community, Nicole! Thanks for the questions. To answer, both items are being worked on in tandem so you should have the ability to copy a Workiva file that has markup and keep the markup, as well as the attachments and their markup too. As far as an estimate, the last I heard was there's not a specific timeline but it has been pushed up in conjunction with other efforts so I'd anticipate seeing it sooner rather than later.

Let me know what questions you have there. In the meantime, I've got you connected on our end so you can stay apprised. Thanks again and have a super day!

    Hi Mike,

I have started to use the mark up feature a lot more this quarter. Please tell me that by my Q3 filing that my mark ups should be able to be rolled along with the document. (I thought it was in the works for Q2 in an earlier comment unless I misunderstood it). Please keep me updated on this progress -- this would be a great time saver. Thank you!

    Hi Yumiko!

Thanks for the question. To be honest, as it sits right now, the ability to include markup on a copy (either on documents or attachments) is not earmarked for Q3, though it does continue to get pushed up in priority. What was pushed out in Q2 was the option to include the attachments during a copy. Apologies for any confusion there.  It is possible these enhancements could get pushed out this quarter, but it seems more likely for a release in Q4. If you are a calendar year filer, that may be in time for your Q3 filings, which as you likely know, peak in November.

I'll get you connected on my end so you can stay apprised. Let me know what questions you have for me in the meantime, and if you need anything else. Thanks for sharing you input and have a great day!

Hi Mike - Also requesting this as high priority. Would be a huge timesaver for us.

Hello - agree with the comments above, would be a huge timesaver if we could get mark-up to rollover - would be great to prioritize if possible!

Follow-up - is copying markup on attached documents in the works now that the document markup copying is complete?

    Hi Nicole!

Sorry for the delay. Yes, I can confirm that markup can be copied itself and/or included in copies of files that contain attachments with markup.

I just want to confirm we are referring to the same thing. When I go to copy a file it tells me that the markup on the attachments will not rollforward. Am I doing something wrong when rolling the file?

    Hi Nicole!

Oof, boy do I feel sheepish. I did misspeak there. Today you can copy the markup on your Workiva Document, but the markup on attachments is not yet supported, though its being worked on. My apologies for the added confusion there. I'll add you as a follower there so you can keep apprised.
