The 2021 version of the ESEF taxonomy now includes language translations for all Label Roles that are defined in the taxonomy.

Previous versions of the taxonomy provided language translations for only the Standard label role and only an English label for all other label roles. This required issuers not using English to provide their own translations when using any label role other than standard. The update in the 2021 taxonomy is a welcome change and one that is easy to consume within Workiva.

Workiva will alert you to any label that can be updated to match the taxonomy in a number of ways.

First, a validation warning will show for each instance that can be updated, and provide navigation to the concept in the XBRL Outline. In the outline there, a warning icon will appear to the right of updateable concepts to indicate that the label is in conflict with one defined in the taxonomy. These can be updated individually by editing label properties from the right-click menu to reset the label, causing it to match the taxonomy.

Additionally, these concepts can be updated in bulk by selecting the "Update Labels and Roles" option in the dropdown in the top left of the XBRL Outline Panel, then selecting the option "Remove custom labels where the taxonomy has a defined label. Don't update labels where the taxonomy hasn't defined one."
