Deleting all comments in a Document
CompletedWe roll forward our documents to produce our statutory financial statements and MD&As. However, there isn't an option to delete all comments in a document so that we can start again. Resolving isn't as effective because we can't filter on resolved comments and tell which ones are from which year when you are rolling documents. It would be effective and efficient for us to be able to delete all of the comments that are in the document each year so we can start fresh for the next year.

Fantastic news! This feature was recently made available in the Workiva Platform. You can access it from the Comment panel in a Document and can delete all comments or resolved comments.
Thanks so much for your awesome feedback and patience along the way. We couldn't have done it without you!
Hi Nicole,
To clarify, there is a delete comment feature that will allow the comment to be deleted instead of resolved. Is this what you are looking for or are you looking for an option to be able to delete all comments at one time instead of individually?
This clarification will help production understand what you are looking for.
0No, we want to delete ALL comments at one time not one by one. I have had to delete all comments one by one since we moved to next gen and deleting over 200 comments in one document is not efficient for us.
1Nicole - I understand how that can be tedious and the need for an improved process.
This idea has been proposed to production, so I will add your feedback to this idea.
I will let you know if anything changes.
0I don't know how to vote for an idea - I would like to cast a vote for this idea and have this feature also available in the SOX and Audit workspaces
0You just move the little ^ up at the top
0Same, i would really love to see this implemented in Next Gen. Has this already been planned for rollout anytime soon?
Our annual report has more than 1000 comments and deleting them one by one is such a pain :(
0We have the same problem and would love to see the option to delete all comments in a document at once.
1Great news! As mentioned here, this enhancement is now earmarked for development this quarter, Q2 2022. We'll keep you apprised, and if a beta program opens up. In the meantime, feel free to add your interest below. Thanks much for your continued patience and have a great rest of your day!
1Very interested!! Glad it will is planned for Q2 2022!
0Hello friends!
You probably noticed that Q2 came and went very recently. You might have also noticed we don't have this feature available quite yet. It is still earmarked to be done and we anticipate having it available sometime this quarter. Stay tuned for that update, and if any beta opportunities open up. We'll continue to take in requests in the meantime. Thanks much for your patience and give us a holler if there are any questions. Cheers!
0When you roll-forward a document, are you using the copy feature? If so, you can very easily select not to copy comments forward from year to year.
0Thanks Stefanie for asking. We are attempting to no longer copy files to roll-forward, but instead have a Primary file, and make the copied file the back up of historical files. The benefit of a standing Primary file would be that the URL stays the same for the purposes of chains and tasking/collections.
2That's a really good idea Sinyi! Thank you for sharing. I am definitely taking this idea back to my team.
0It would be extremely helpful, to delete most (but not all comments). I have, are meant to guide the user in spreadsheets and docs. It would be great if there was a way to "lock a comment," retain those while bulk deleting all others. This is a tedious process in the roll-forward of multiple entities, where delete all is not optimal either.
