Leading zero in tables

Hello and welcome to the Community, Sean!

Hmm... in testing, the only way I've been able to achieve this so far is to have the cell formatted as Text, which will then show the zero. I'm not confident, though, on if that has an impact on any XBRL tagging applied, if that was the case.

Let me know what questions you have on any of the above, or if you need anything else. Thanks for your contributions and chat with you soon!

Thanks for posting this, Sean.  I don't have any solutions for you, but wanted to join in solidarity on this being an issue.  Here are two additional scenarios where this has been a concern for us - 1) in the Northeast, most zip codes begin with a 0, and it's been a longstanding issue to develop workarounds in Excel so they don't fall off.  This hasn't been an issue so far in Wdesk since we aren't using zip code data (yet!), but it could become a future concern.  2) We recently revamped our chart of accounts, and our consultant wanted us to use zeroes to start our main fund account numbering.  Thankfully, I was able to test it in Wdesk before we finalized the renumbering, saw that the zeroes dropped, and we spent several weeks redesigning the numbering scheme before implementing.  We probably could have implemented workarounds, but it's nice to have the data intact.  (Hope the extra context is helpful, Mike.)

Thank you both for your input! Using Mike's suggestion is the way to go....switching to "Text" maintains the leading zero.

Thanks!  Just curious - is this a small issue that's only impacting a few cells, or are you working with a larger data set?  It's been 18+ months since I encountered this, and seem to recall that the Text change worked initially, but defaulted back to a non-Text format when I updated my data (1,000-2,000 rows) by copying and pasting from an external source.  It may no longer be an issue given all of the recent Wdesk updates.

Just one cell for me and this is our first year with Workiva, so it's all new to us.
