WDesk Documents - Images Blurry
I am having trouble maintaining picture quality when inserting images into documents. The image is a diagram made on MS Word which is then saved as a (very high quality) picture. When I insert into the document in WDesk however you can barely read the text on the diagram. Is there any way to get around this? Thanks

Hello and welcome to the Community, James!
Thanks for the question. That's an interesting one. So the image is blurry within the Workiva document itself, correct? Do you know what the resolution is of the image file (like how many pixels wide and high). And to confirm, this is in a Classic file type and not next gen? I'll do a little digging on my end to see what is expected for images in Classic. In the meantime, let me know what questions you have for me as well.

0Hi Mike, thanks for getting back.
Yes within the document the image looks blurry. I have tried both copy/pasting and inserting the picture from saved files. The dimensions are 3154x1810 which should be fine for especially just as going in an A4 document. On MS Word it is fine for example but not on the Workiva document when it is basically the same size. I believe it is classic but not too sure - how do I know if next gen?
Thanks again!
James
0Gotcha. Thanks for that info. It'll be helpful in testing things out.
As far as telling if you are in next gen vs. Classic, you can see when you are in the active file a few ways. First, Classic would open in a new tab as it is Flash-based, and when you edit there will be a pencil icon in the outline and the file will say "DRAFT". Also, in order to add a new revision to Classic you have to hit the the Share button, whereas in next gen there's no indicator of when you are editing since edits are real-time and revisions are automatically captured.
Hopefully that helps. Let me know what questions you have for me and I'll do some testing and ask our experts here too. Thanks!
0I see, thanks. Looks like I am using Next Gen then. Thanks for any help.
0No problem, and thanks for the follow-up.
P.S. I moved your post into the next gen Documents topic, btw.
0Hi James!
So far I am finding two things to check here. First, do you know how many DPI (dots per inch) the image is saved as? For high-quality, you'd want something like 300 DPI. Sometimes systems default to a value like 72 DPI. And secondly, the max pixel size allowed in next gen Document is 1632 pixels wide or tall, so your 3154 x 1810 image would be scaled down, and if it were less than 300 DPI, it would likely seem a bit blurry.
Let me know what questions you have there or if you need anything else. Thanks as always and happy Friday!
