    Hi Jessica!

Thanks so much for your question. I can provide a little update here regarding speaker notes in next gen.

While we don't have any explicit timelines for when this will be made available, now that we have parity with our Classic Presentations product, our Product Team is putting together a plan for all the things we want to do with next gen Presentations and speaker notes is on that list. You can rest assured that they will be added and likely sooner than most since it's a basic presentation feature and one that many users like yourself have requested.

I've connected this request directly with the team, and you can follow long here: https://support.workiva.com/hc/en-us/requests/51299. In the meantime, I'll keep you updated on this post when the feature is more prioritized and timelines become available. Let me know what questions you have for me and if you need anything else. Thanks again and keep staying awesome!

Mike Davis Is there an update to the release of Speaker Notes in Presentations?  The link in the above post is not active.

    Hi Adam Horowitz!

Sorry for the delay. Was doing some checking with our Product Team on this to see if there's been any change, and sadly I don't have anything new to report. It is on the roadmap to add this enhancement to the platform but I don't have a timeline for when this will be made available. The link above would only work for Jessica since it is attached to their request, but I've got your request connected and will update you as anything changes. In the meantime, let me know what questions you have or if you need anything else.

    Thanks and chat soon!

    Hi,

we would also like to push the development of speaker notes. We think that this is quite a standard function that should be available soon, especially since it already has been requested for one year ago!

    Looking forward to any feedback!

Thanks for your candor, Dominik. I'll definitely share your thoughts with our product team.

That being said, while this feature remains planned, the timeline for release seems likely to be pushed beyond Q3 2021 as of right now, but that could be subject to change based on added interest and/or additional traction. If that timeline does get adjusted, I'll be sure to keep ya'll updated here.

Sorry I couldn't be the bearer of better news. Do let me know what questions you have for me in the meantime. Thanks again for your contributions and have a great day!

Quick update for you all. Speaker Notes have been added to the 2022 product roadmap. I do not have a specific timeline for when work will begin, but we'll for sure let you know. New requests and feedback are certainly welcome in the meantime, so keep it coming!

You can create sections for speaker notes and hide them.

Very important topic eg for Earnings Call script or additional information. Could be a doc that embeds the slides (always up to date) and then you just write in the doc or as part of the slide deck. If it is part of the slide deck, this requires track change as well (otherwise its a disadvantage vs a normal document). Would be a very beneficial feature to have (Speaker notes & track change in slides).

Hi there, looking to see if there is an expected date in the roadmap?

  • Mike Davis

Hi Rose Ann! Thanks for the note.

I circled back with our product team and while they are working on Presentation functionalities tied to Designed Reporting and/or ESG, this is not yet earmarked for work. That being said, they agree that speaker notes is a popular request and is within the product vision for Presentations. We do expect it a some point, though I don't have a date as of yet.

    TL;DR

All kidding aside, thanks as always for your input. Keep up the good fight!

We are also hoping to get this feature as soon as possible.  We moved our Audit Committee presentation to W-desk as the speaker notes feature was supposed to be under development and now our executives are upset that it's no longer available like it was when we did it in PowerPoint.  We have to copy all the speaker notes into a separate document and then paste into an exported document in PowerPoint, which is very inefficient and makes it much more difficult for preparers and reviewers than if we had just stayed in PowerPoint.  Is there any way to expedite the development of this feature?

Hello, we are very interested in this feature and would like it to be developed as soon as possible.

    Hi Samantha and Johannah!

Thanks to you both for sharing your insights here. As far as helping expedite this enhancement, you're going about the right way. I will share this back with our engineers for their added consideration. That being said, I don't see this earmarked as of yet for Q2, though it possibly could be picked up mid-cycle. We'll keep you apprised if the status changes but do let me know what questions you have for me in the meantime.

Thanks again and have a great day!

Hello, we just got an update that this feature is still on the roadmap.  Could you please let us know the expected timing?

  • Mike Davis

    Hi Samantha!

At this time a specific timeline is not yet known, though our product team is in process of earmarking items for Q4. We should have a better sense in early October, and should this get picked up, I'll be sure to let you know. Thanks for chiming in, and for your patience!

P.S. If you're headed to Amplify in Nashville, I'd encourage you to stop by the Expo and find a product team to harass lol 😉

    Hi Natalia!

Thanks for the note. Speaker Notes remains on the roadmap to be done though it was not picked up for Q2 work. We are hopeful for yet this year, however.

We would also very much welcome this functionality. The end of 2025 is now over. When can we expect the Speaker Notes functionality to be available?

  • Isabel Messore

Hi there Stefan Hoffmann and fellow Speaker Note enthusiants,

As many of you are aware, unfortunately Speaker Notes were not released in 2025. While this has been pushed back, it does remain one of the most frequently requested items and a high priority for future Presentation enhancements. It will be considered as part of the 2026 prioritization process! Fingers crossed here folks :)

    Hi,
I would like to join this discussion and emphasize that we also have a strong interest in — and clear need for — the Speaker Notes functionality.

From our perspective, this is an important capability for effectively preparing and delivering presentations in Workiva without inefficient workarounds, and we would very much like to see it placed high on the prioritized development items list.

We appreciate your continued efforts and would be grateful if you continue to drive this topic forward.
