Is there a way to wrap text inside a table in presentations?

    Hi Barbara!

    Happy to help elaborate a bit here. The content in embedded tables does automatically wrap. If you want the columns to be narrower but do not want the content to be truncated, the only options here are either to make the cell taller or to shrink the font size. Otherwise another option could be to rotate the text  and make it vertical.

    Hi Mike! I am searching for the same thing and just want to confirm. Is there NOT a wrap text option in a table cell? I have text that is being truncated that has not been truncated in prior projects. I tried making the cell taller and the text did not change, it is still being truncated. This should be a simple thing to do. Please help!! Thank you! -Katrina

    Hi Katrina!

    Happy to help here.

    In embedded tables, or Spreadsheets, the text auto wraps when it becomes longer than the cell its entered into, meaning it flows to the next line. However, there's not a function to toggle this wrapping or how it wraps. And in addition, when the text wraps to the next line, it does not make the cell height auto adjust, which may be where you seeing truncation. You should be able to auto adjust the height though by double clicking between the rows in the table, like so:

    P.S. I should add that the ability to have rows automatically resize their height when content is added to them is in process and should be available later this quarter.

    Thanks Mike! Unfortunately our text is not auto-wrapping. The text in these cells is staying on the same line, but being cut off by the end of the cell. When I double clicked on the edge of Row 1, like you show above, it adjusted the height to fit the way the text is currently, but did nothing to wrap the text. Any idea why our text is not auto-wrapping?

    Thanks for sharing Katrina Callies. That's very bizarre indeed. I've been testing to see if I can reproduce and so far no luck. A couple things to look at. Can you toggle on non-printing characters to see what maybe is there, especially in the source file? Not sure but maybe there's non-breaking spaces or something like that. Additionally, in this destination location, does selecting those cells and clearing the formatting do anything?

    Let me know what comes of those two things. I've got my feelers out as well with our experts here to see what might stick. Thanks again for the info and chat with you soon.

    Hi Mike! Clearing the formatting worked! I cleared the cells and re-linked the dates and the text wrapped automatically. Apologies for not trying that yesterday. I'm thinking this was an issue caused by the NextGen migration. We've had a couple things that we've had to delete and re-do for the platform to work properly (ex. footnote numbering). Anyway, thanks so much for your quick responses and suggestions!

    That's great to hear. And no worries, I'm pleased to see that got corrected. I was just gonna ask if these were transitioned over by chance and not created manually. I'll certainly bring this up to our transitions team to test further on. Thanks again and keep staying awesome!
