    Fantastic news, all!

recent release to Workiva has now made ruer bars available in Documents (and Presentations). You can now add a hanging indent to your table cells, both individually or in bulk.

As always, thanks so much for your patience and feedback. Happy early Thanksgiving! 🦃 🥧 🤗

    Hi Megan!

Sorry for the delay. I've been doing some digging on this and indeed, I do see that tab stops are not available in a table (or Spreadsheet) in next gen. I've shared this request with our Product Team and will get back with you on progress. You can follow along here as well: https://support.workiva.com/hc/en-us/requests

In the meantime, give me a holler if there are any questions. Thanks much and have a great day!

I might have the same question here, I'm looking to be to indent the second line of text in a table in a NG document. Is this not possible?

    Hi Jamie!

At this time both tab stops and hanging indents in table cells hinge on the release of the ruler bar in Spreadsheets. The good news is this in development currently, and is planned to be released in mid Q3 2020. I've connected your request to the ongoing work so you can follow along, but I'll also keep this post updated when its fully released. In the meantime, as a workaround (if it works for you) you can try to force a hard return in the cell and apply a manual indent, as mentioned here. Hopefully that helps get you by in the interim.

Feel free to give me a holler if there are any questions. Thanks much and have a great rest of your day!

Is there any update to this?

Specifically in Classic Documents we were able to apply paragraph properties and change the indent to the second line of text in a cell.  Is there any way to do that in Next Gen?

    Hi Karen!

No new update on this feature release, per se, but we are still tracking for its availability this quarter.

In the meantime, the best workaround to achieve what you are describing would be to first create a hard return in your cell (CTRL+Return) and then a manual indent on the second line. That button is found on the ribbon, under the Edit tab here:

    The result looks like this:

That indent may well be too big, so another method is to still insert the hard return but instead of the manual indent, you select the cell and go to Paragraph Properties and apply an indent there. The trick here is to set the First Line as a negative value (like -0.125) and the Left value as a positive (like 0.25).

The result here looks a little better:

Does this help? Let me know what questions you have or if you need anything else. In the meantime, I've made our Product Team aware of your request for this feature and we'll keep you posted as soon as it becomes availably. Thanks for feedback and have a great rest of your day!

Wanted to check in on this - any updates?

We're calendaring what we need to get done by year end and this impacts a number of our disclosures and we need to know if we have reformat them across our numerous entities.  Would appreciate any insight you can give us.

    Thanks.
