Checking sources of all links in next gen?
AnsweredIn Classic, it was possible to check all of a document's links in order to check that a document was only linked to the correct workbook. This has been especially useful when disclosures with linking was copied from other documents with the links intact. I would check all the document's links and relink any e.g, 10-K links that were inadvertently copied into a 10-Q.
Is there any way to run the same check in next gen? I do not think it is part of the document health?
Thanks.

Hi Barbara!
I checked with our next gen team quickly on this and they mentioned the best thing to run would be the Linked Files Report, which is available from the right-click menu in Home on any file or project. That should show you what files are linked to the object you are running the report on, including the selected file(s) and any additional linked files along with the number of sources/occurrences.
Hopefully this helps some. Do let me know what questions you have for me, or if you need anything else. Thanks as always and chat soon!
0The Linked Files Report shows when there are other files linked to the object you are running the report on, and it tells you how many links there are to each file. Is there a way to see those specific links? There is the option to "Create Spreadsheet of File Links", but I do not believe that document shows the document names of what is linked, so you cannot filter to find just the number of links identified in the Linked Files Report. The "Create Spreadsheet of File Links" shows all links in that document. I am looking for one errant link in my Q2 document that remains linked to my Q1 Workbook...but this report identifies section names but does not tell you the document name (my Q1 and Q2 documents have the same section names). Thanks!
0Thanks for the question, Teresa!
I know that there is an ongoing request for this feature in next gen, akin to the 'Doc Links' feature in Classic, which seems similar to what you are looking for. If I've missed the mark there, let me know.
I'm also having our transition experts take a closer look at this question and I'm waiting on some info back from them to see what your best course is here. I'll be in touch soon, but do let me know if you have any questions for me in the meantime. Thanks again and have an excellent weekend if I don't catch you before then. Cheers! 🥂
0Ok, I've got some info your for you there.
Our Product Team indicates that the names of the linked documents are present in the created Spreadsheet. In the example you are showing, the name of the file is column E.
Let me know if I've missed the mark there or you have any follow-ups for me. Thanks much and chat soon!
0Hello! Are there any plans to get a feature similar to Doc Links from Classic? Running the Linked Files Report is definitely not as efficient as the doc links feature was.
0Howdy, Michelle!
Right now, the equivalent of a Doc Links is the 'Spreadsheet of File Links'. You can generate that from the Linked Files Report.
Are you familiar with this report or does that not quite meet your need there? I don't find any current plans to implement something beyond that, but we are certainly open to the suggestion.
0Yes, it gets me what I needed. I think I just got spoiled with how instantaneous it was in Classic. It takes a little longer to run a report and then filter vs. just clicking on a link. (I know...first world problems. LOL!)
0No worries, Michelle. I hear ya! I do miss those instantaneous numbers too
