Logo on Cover Page in a Document
AnsweredI recently transitioned a classic 8-K project into Next Gen, and our logo that was on the classic 8-K cover page is on the next generation document cover page. When I collect documents in the Filing process, I receive a warning for an "Unreferenced Image...is not referenced by any documents in the filing package. Please remove the graphic file from the filing package." How should logo images be treated in next generation so they are properly included on the cover page and included in the filing.

Hi all! I wonderful news to share. A new release to Workiva has now made available the ability to rename images. 🎉 🥳 . This is found from the right-click option for Image Properties and you can rename and then save a new image name the right-hand panel in your Document, Spreadsheet or Presentation.
Thanks so much for your continued patience and feedback. Give us a holler if there are any questions, or you need anything else. All the best and happy Wednesday!
Hi Jessica!
Exciting to hear you recently transitioned! Kudos to you :) I think I know the answer and am happy to help.
When you first collect your documents, your image files should be included in the package, but since you have yet to travel further through the filing, it displays that message. You can double check this by clicking on the document that contains the images, in your case your 8-K:As you continue through the filing, the next step involves labeling the items, which should show the image, listed as a GRAPHIC type, and if you continue further and reach the Form Information step, the Filing Health will auto update and that image error should go away.
TL;DR - in short, you shouldn't have to do anything, really, to make sure any images found in your next gen Document also make it into your next gen Filing. As you advance through, that message should go away, unless you truly have an unreferenced image added in.
Hopefully this helps. Let me know what questions you have, or if you need anything else. Thanks for your contributions and happy filing in the meantime. Cheers!0Mike - thank you for the quick response, Filing Health did auto update as I went through the process with the image error going away.
The name of the image file was changed by having a 1 added to the end of the name. Can this be renamed to the initial file name of the .jpg or can this renaming be prevented?
Thanks again!
0No problem, Jessica.
Currently in next gen filing, images will always be generated with a number at the end. If you rename the file, you'd need to regenerate the document at the Collect step at which point the system will add a "1" to the end of the filename. So it seems currently that renaming cannot be prevented. That being said, I've brought this to the attention of our Product Team and they are taking a closer look. Ideally you should be able to rename your image file and have that name stick in the filing too. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, for sure.
Hopefully that helps some. We'll keep you posted on any developments, but do let me know if you have any questions for me in the meantime. Thanks much and have a great day!0Has there been any progress made on this topic?
I also find odd that if you have the same image on different documents, the filing creates different logo files for each different document it is on even though the logos are identical. This didn't always happen when we first switched to Next Gen, but now it does. Under classic, you only needed to include one logo with your filing package if it was the same through out.
Thanks!
0Hi Kara!
Thanks for the reminder. There has been some progress toward these requests, so I owe this post some updates indeed.
Today you can resize or download an image in Workiva, and can copy and paste an image across the same file, or across documents, and doing so will reuse the same image. There were also some improvements to Filings where the image is not repeated either and same image is reused in that filing package.
Those aside, you are still unable to see the image name in your document, or rename it. Those are items that our Product Team is still looking into. I've connected your request for those items with our internal ticket, viewable here.
In the meantime, give me a holler if you have questions on the above or need anything else. Thanks much for your feedback and have a happy Wednesday!
