Formatting Tables in Edgar View
AnsweredHi,
I'm using Next gen and I'm having trouble with one of the tables in my document. In Word and PDF, the table looks completely fine but when I look at the HTML version, it's shifted a bit to the right. I've checked and all of the columns are exactly the same width.
Here is the Word view:

Hi Chelsea!
Thanks for the question. I'm happy to take a look for ya.One thing that does come to mind is that possibly your tables are a) not stretched to the entire width of your page, and b) right-aligned.
Currently in next gen Documents the variable width setting, i.e. EDGAR view for tables, is always on but if a table's column sizes make it less than the width of a page, it will be smaller than the page in EDGAR view but still adjust its size ever so slightly. To get the table to fit the whole width in your EDGAR view, you need make sure the columns are stretched to the max size for the page.Additionally, since you are seeing the table with a little extra white space on the left makes me think the table itself is right-aligned. To check, you need select the entire table. This can be done either by clicking and dragging your mouse across the table from margin, or placing your cursor next to the table and double-clicking. Either way, you don't want to click inside the table, but highlight it instead. Once you've selected it, you can see/adjust the alignment of table.
Let me know if I've missed the mark here, or you have any questions for me. Thanks for your contributions to the Community and happy Monday!
0The table is center aligned, just like the table below it, and the column widths are also the exact same as the table below it. Since that table is showing up just fine, it doesn't seem like that's the problem? The column widths are 383, 4, 60, 4, 60.
0Thanks for the additional insights, Chelsea. That's very interesting, indeed.
I'm wondering, if you turned on non-printing characters, does anything show up as being before that table? Like a tab stop or hanging indent?
0I don't think so. Here is that view:
0Hmm... very bizarre. Let me dig a little deeper with the team here and get back to you. Thanks for your patience.
0I went back and re-checked this and there was a hanging indent. I had to highlight the table to see that, not just be clicked in it, that was what I was doing wrong before.
Thanks for your help!
0You're quite welcome, and thanks for letting me know. Glad to hear you were able to resolve, and it was something simple. Holler if you need anything else. Cheers!
