Tagging a number with multiple facts
AnsweredI just wanted to clarify what this means. Example: ABC and XYZ had income of $5 million in 2018.
Under the old method we would tag the $5 million for ABC in the document and then tag the $5 million for XYZ in a Phantom section.
Would the Next Generation of XBRL allow us to tag the $5 million for both ABC and XYZ directly in the document and eliminate the need for the Phantom section?

Hi Jenna!
Thanks for reaching out, and for attending one of the webinars!
And yes, you heard correctly. With next generation XBRL and SEC Filing, you can tag a single value in your Wdesk document with more than one XBRL fact. This would alleviate the need for extra phantom tagging that you currently do in classic Wdesk documents. There will still remain instances where you need to phantom tag an item in a non-printing section with next generation, such as your DEI info and parenthetical values, but this ability should reduce the overall amount you currently do today. More info on next generation XBRL and Filing experience in Wdesk can be found here on our Help site: https://support.workiva.com/hc/en-us/sections/360007126152-XBRL.
Let me know if you have any questions for me or need anything else. Thanks again, and have an excellent day in the meantime. Cheers!0
Please share the link for the webinar if it is still available.0Hi Elvia!
Yep, these are still available. Here's a post that includes links to the corresponding webinars: https://support.workiva.com/hc/en-us/community/topics/360001472811-Next-Gen-Trainings
Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks!0We started using this feature for our current 10-K, however when reviewing Inline view, it will only show one date, but it doesn't always show the current fiscal year end date - is there a setting or best practice when using multiple tags to ensure the most recent date is shown in Inline view?
0Hi Lauren!
Thanks for the question. Lemme see if I can assist. For inline view, I assume you mean iXBRL view vs in Wdesk itself. I can say that there was a recent issue identified for multiple tags table cells. A fix for that issue is pending release and when it is pushed out you'd need to regenerate to see the fix change. I'll double check on that to confirm. Let me know too if I misinterpreted your above question or you need anything else. Thanks, and chat soon!0Hi! Is there any additional information on how to set up phantoms in nextgen. We have been able to eliminate in some cases, but in the few where it is still needed we are struggling to set it up in nextgen. There is a "help" page that shows you how to tag in the phantom but the steps are not clear and we are having trouble applying the guidance. For reference, this is the article we are trying to follow: https://support.workiva.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036001611-Tag-Phantom-Hidden-Facts-in-Non-Printing-Sections
0Hi Margaret!
Thanks for your question. Let me check with our Professional Services team on this and circle back with you for sure. Thanks again and chat soon!
0Howdy, Margaret!
