Pdf would not Edgarize
My team and I uploaded a pdf of our investors' presentation to an 8-K but then could not Edgarize it. The "Edgarizing in progress" window got stuck on either the 2nd or 3rd "bar", and eventually did not yield any htm or jpeg files in the corresponding sub-folder. We had our CSM give us various ideas and recommendations, waited 20-30 minutes each time and moved on to making different iterations of the pdf and tried again, all with no success. I was thinking of reaching out to Adobe to see if they have any insights, but wanted to see if anyone has encountered this before and has any notes for us?
Here's a list of things we tried to come up with different iterations of the pdf, then reuploaded and re-Edgarized every time, and then waited 20-30 minutes each time to no avail:
1. We thought it could be the file size being too big (3MB), so we "reduced size" using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.
2. We also tried using Nitro Pdf Creator (Pro 11).
Now we think the size really isn't the problem, and it's probably something underlying our pdf itself that's blocking the Edgarization process, so then:
3. We recreated the pdf from the original powerpoint.
4. We "printed to pdf" different versions of the file.
Our temporary workaround is to print a hard copy of the powerpoint, then scan it back in and then run OCR on it. We prefer not going this route, though, since our OCR software in Adobe Pro is not picking up everything we need it to.
Certain things we picked up on that may be indicators of what's causing the problem:
1. When we sent our pdf to our CSM, he couldn't open it, getting an error saying it's "locked or otherwise inaccessible." Internally we all opened it just fine, and the owner of the powerpoint did not put any access restrictions in it.
2. We get the conversion warning "The pdf document contained image masks that were not downsampled" when trying to reduce the size on both Acrobat Pro and Nitro Pdf Creator. The conversion still completed, though.
3. The reader (Nitro Pdf) stopped working entirely at certain times when we were printing to pdf or trying to convert, just quoting "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly."
