All the details around classic binders going away with the arrival of the next generation of binders.
Hello, Workiva Classic Binders users!
My name is Mallory Earll and I’m a Senior Product Manager here at Workiva over the Binders product. I wanted to provide some additional detail to the messaging you received within the Workiva platform.
Due to necessary technology improvements, the ability to use classic binders is going away. However, we have introduced a replacement Binders product that we are confident will blow the existing functionality out of the water. As we know many of you depend on this classic product for your processes, I want to give you a more detailed look at what this process of deprecating classic binders will look like.
All access to classic binders will go away on June 5th, 2023. However, Workiva will migrate your classic binders to the new binders product in order to prevent manual rework on your end! We will do this migration on April 12th, 2023. When this migration is complete, you will have access to both your classic and next gen versions of your binders until the June 5th date. This will ensure you have time to get used to the new product or close out any existing cycles. When the June 5th date comes, the view of your classic binders will go away.
The new binders product is already available to you. Additional information on using the new product can be found, here. If you’re a user with only a few files in your binder, we encourage you to try it now! .
There are a few feature gaps we are looking to rectify over the next couple months before classic binders are ready to be deprecated.
These include:
- Nesting/Indenting Tabs in Binders - this will allow you to organize the files within the binder similar to how you are able to today.
- Copying Binders - this will provide the ability to copy binders for roll forward
- Binder Viewer - this will provide the ability to send the Binder digitally from Workiva (in addition to being able to download to PDF, available today)
Please feel free to comment here if you have any questions!

I'm looking at a binder in the new version, and I'm unable to links within a PDF. Can you provide a solution?
