Export / Import Spreadsheet/word and Links from One Workspace to Another
AnsweredLooking to generate efficiencies to transport workbook (excel data linked to word type document), formulas and links from one module to another. We have found some data generation will assist another area however do not want to have to recreate something all over. Is there a way to export files/data with links intact and then upload within another module and maintain all functionality? We have word document with underlying tables - which would make sense to link to another document in another module. Per conversation as conference - Workiva representative mentioned that inhouse assistance would be required. Thank you!!

Hi Rachel,
Thank you for your question. We have a way for you to do this! Using the Move tool, you can copy files from one workspace to another while maintaining the linking structure. This action leaves the original file intact, but creates a duplicate file in the destination workspace. You'll need to be added to both workspaces and have the Workspace Owner role to be able to do this. This support article walks through the directions step-by-step, but please let us know if you have any questions arise.
Happy Thanksgiving!
0Hi Liz,
If it will create duplicate file, then will the spreadsheet id changes? I have spreadsheets (connected to queries) which I like to move and not recreate in another workspace. Will your suggested method useful in this case?
0Hi Deepshikha Pant,
Thank you for your patience while I connected with some of our experts about this. If you are using the Move tool to copy the spreadsheet into a different workspace, it shouldn't affect your spreadsheet/query connection in the original workspace. If you are trying to move the spreadsheet and its queries to a different workspace, you have to do those separately and would need to re-establish connections.
Hope this helps!
Liz
