Spreadsheets
Automated Tables feature is now available for qualifying Fund Reporting solutions.
Automated Tables let fund reporting teams dynamically generate and maintain structured tables directly from connected data sources, without manual formatting, custom scripting, or rebuilding from scratch each reporting cycle. The initial use case is the Schedule of Investments (SOI) table.
With Automated Tables, you define your dataset and table configuration once. Table structure, formatting, and calculation rules apply consistently across every reporting cycle, even as the table updates after you refresh the dataset.
Automated Tables are fully compatible with XBRL tagging, including tagging specific values at a sub-cell level, so each data point keeps its tag through a refresh or roll-forward. Refreshing the table preserves formatting and existing tags such as XBRL, comments, and attachments. You'll still need to create new tags for any new values in the table that did not exist before the refresh.
To start building a new automated table, select Insert> Table> Automated table, and then select your data source.
For more information, refer to the Workiva Support page Use automated tables.
New function available: TODAY()
Workiva now offers the TODAY() function in Spreadsheets. You can use this function to get the numeric date value of your current day.
Notes
-
TODAY()is re-evaluated when a Spreadsheet, Document, or Presentation is opened or the browser is refreshed. - If
TODAY()was included prior to this release, the formula will not automatically work. You will have to re-enter the formula containing the function, or reach out to support to reapply the formulas. - When using the
TODAY()function by itself, ensure that the cell value format is set to "Date" in order for it to display correctly.
Important: If the "timezone" value is not set in the Spreadsheet, Document, or Presentation creator's User Profile, it will not be set in that file. This will result in a formula error until the timezone is set. To avoid this happening, make sure that the timezone is set in your user profile.
New spreadsheet property: Timezone
To support the TODAY() function, we have added a new "timezone" property to Spreadsheets, Documents, and Presentations. Set in your User Profile, this property is read when a Spreadsheet, Document, or Presentation is opened or created.
For more information, refer to the Workiva Support page TODAY.
