Industry insight
Pending regulatory approval, CDP will transition — over a six-month-period to a dual-structure model:
- CDP — Backed by Permira, this branch will focus on commercial activities, including data deployment, technological upgrades, and simplification of the disclosure experience for companies and markets. The Permira partnership should help fund CDP's data services and technology to improve their user experience and risk assessment tools.
- CDP Foundation — This branch will remain a charitable organization, with an exclusive focus on frontier environmental science to guide the strategic evolution of the CDP questionnaire. This science-driven approach should enable CDP reporting to include advanced planetary health metrics.
Business as usual. Despite this transition, the 2026 CDP disclosure cycle will continue as planned!

What's new & next
For CDP
Speaking of CDP, you'll soon be able to set up a CDP Questionnaire for your 2026 submission within Sustainability Explorer. From CDP Questionnaire, you can collaborate on responses to your company's specific questions and update those responses within your CDP submission — directly from your Sustainability Reporting workspace!
From CDP Questionnaire:
- Review CDP's guidance for each question, including response options and scoring criteria.
- View metrics in Sustainability Program aligned with each question, and copy/paste values into responses as necessary.
- Discuss questions and responses with other collaborators through comment threads.
- Set status of questions to help track the progress of their responses.

For ESRS or IFRS SDS
If your Sustainability Reporting Advanced workspace has Workiva AI enabled, you can now use Sustainability Disclosure Agent to help report in compliance with:
- European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) from European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG)
- International Financial Reporting Standards Sustainability Disclosure Standards (IFRS SDS) from International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)
To use the Agent, highlight disclosure content within a Document — such as your sustainability report — and select Draft disclosure from Workiva AI's Quick edits.
Given the requirements the disclosure content should address, Workiva AI then provides:
- Compliance scorecard, to assess the disclosure for gaps in the requirements and identify missing details or information
- Action items, with specific guidance on how to resolve any gaps identified
- Disclosure narrative, a draft disclosure to best revise the content to meet the requirements and specify what's missing

For Carbon
In addition to Purchases, you can now use a new Spend tool extension calculator to process transaction data, apply exchange rates, and map emissions factors. This calculator is recommended if you use either:
- Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) spend-based or multi-regional Open Comprehensive Environmental Data Archive (CEDA) emission factor datasets
- A spend-based method to calculate Scope 3 Categories 4, 5, 6, and 9
