Effective June 11, 2026, Workiva Scripting will require a "Script Runner" role to be assigned to a user at the workspace level in order to run scripts. This change enhances the level of permissions available for running specific scripts within your workspace.
Prerequisites
To make these changes, you must have Administrative account privileges (Workspace Owner (for the workspace) or Organization Administrator).
Assign a Script Runner role
- Open the workspace where the role is to be assigned.
- Click the profile/workspace selector dropdown at the top right of the header bar and select Workspace Settings.
- Click Members in the navigation menu.
- Use the search field at the top of the workspace user table to locate the user name or email of the person you want to assign the Script Runner role to.
- Mark the checkbox next to the user name, click Edit in the Workspace Settings toolbar, and select Roles.
Tip: If you want to add the Script Runner role to multiple users at one time, mark the checkboxes for all the users to be edited before clicking Edit and selecting Roles. - In the Edit Roles dialog, mark (check) Script Runner, and click Apply.
Click Apply Changes in the Workspace Settings toolbar to make these changes active.
- You can now see "Script Runner" in the user's profile, and the will have the necessary permissions to run scripts in Workiva.
