Create a Workday connection for Get Workers
To create a connection for the Workday Connector, follow the comprehensive instructions on the Workiva Support page Connector to Workday.
Tips
- Use the username and password for the ISU account set up using the instructions on Create an Integration System User (ISU) in Workday.
- When naming the connection it is useful to include a signifier that it is for retrieving Worker data.
- To find your Workday host, refer to the Workday Community page How To Find An API / Web Service (WWS) Endpoint and WSDL.
Creating a Get Worker test chain
Complete the following steps to create a Get Worker test chain in Workiva. Use this chain to verify that your setup and configuration values are correct before creating a larger production chain that uses the Get Worker command.
- Create a new chain (see the Workiva article Create and manage chains for instructions on how to do this).
- In the left Nav area, enter Workday in the Search field.
- Click the Workday tile.
- Under Reports, locate the Get Workers tile, and drag that to the Chain canvas.
- Double-click the Get Workers node to open its configuration dialog.
- Under Command Properties
- If the connection has already been set up, you will see the following, and you can skip to Step 7.
If it has not been set up, you will see the following banner. - Click the banner, and complete the Create Connection panel.

Under Connection Connection, select the Workday Connection appropriate for this command and the connection type (CloudRunner or GroundRunner)
Note: CloudRunner is the default selection, but this connection will also work using a GroundRunner. For information on installing and using a GroundRunner, refer to the Workiva Support page Install and manage GroundRunners.
- Under Basic Info, provide a name and an optional description of what the command is configured to do.
- Under Resources, select the optional resources to associate to your connection. These will be automatically encrypted when you save the connection setup.

Under Properties, enter the connection's details.
Property Details User name The username of the Workday integration system user. Password The password for the User name property. Tenant The Workday tenant to connect to. Host The host of the Workday environment to connect to. In the environment's URL, the characters before the Domain property represent the host. Domain The domain of the Workday environment to connect to, such as workday.com or myworkday.com. For instructions on creating an Integration System User (ISU), refer to Create an Integration System User (ISU) account in Workday.
Note: All sensitive credentials are automatically encrypted and stored at Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)-256 encryption.
- Under Workspaces and Environments, select the workspaces and environments where your connection will be used.
- Click Save at the top of this panel.
- Continue with configuring the command.

- If the connection has already been set up, you will see the following, and you can skip to Step 7.
- (Optional) Complete the configuration of the Get Workers node by clicking on the Notifications, Skip conditions, Dynamic outputs, Error actions, and Iterators tabs at the top of the dialog, and entering the appropriate values for each tab.

Click Save to save the command.
Note: Chains will show that the form has errors. Click Save Anyway.
- Run the chain to confirm that you are getting the results that you are looking for.
