To help meet the ever-evolving needs of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) or sustainability reporting, Workiva's Sustainability Reporting solution updates frequently, including these new features and enhancements introduced November 2025.
Tip: These release notes are specific to Workiva's Sustainability Reporting features. For updates to other Workiva features or solutions, view Release Notes in Support Center.
Copy additional files for new Program year
From Sustainability Program, you can now choose to copy or "roll forward" additional files — such Processes, the Factbook Spreadsheet, or reporting outputs — when you add a new reporting year. Previously, you could copy only source files connected to metric values. To learn more, view Manage and roll forward years in Sustainability Program.
Explore checklist for California Senate Bill 261
From Sustainability Explorer, you can now include the checklist from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to disclose climate-related financial risks in compliance with California Senate Bill (SB) 261. To enable the checklist in Sustainability Explorer, select either California Climate Related Financial Risk disclosures (SB261) or All frameworks from the Properties panel, or contact your Workiva CSM to add it to your account.
Note: SB261 requires companies with at least $500M in annual revenue doing business in California to disclose their climate-related financial risks and mitigation strategy every two years, starting 2026.
When enabled, you can:
- Explore and bookmark requirements to comply with SB261.
- Align SB261 requirements with related metrics in Sustainability Program.
- Identify how SB261 requirements relate to Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Sustainability Disclosure Standards you may already use for reporting.
To learn more, view Explore California Air Resources Board rules for sustainability reporting.
Explore and assess readiness for Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards
From Sustainability Explorer, you can now include the content of the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS) from the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB). When included, you can explore and bookmark the Standards, and align their requirements with related metrics in Sustainability Program.
To help prepare to report using the ASRS, you can also supplement your Sustainability Reporting workspace with additional files, including:
- Assessment templates, to collect stakeholder perspectives on the financial impact — or materiality — of sustainability-related risks and opportunities (ROs)
- ASRS gap assessment, to identify gaps in data collection or reporting for both general disclosures and ROs
- ASRS datapoint accelerator, to easily create or update metrics in Sustainability Program to help resolve gaps identified
- ASRS section for your Factbook spreadsheet, to ease reporting of general disclosures
To learn more, view Prepare Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards-ready reporting.
Note: Depending on your subscription, an additional cost may apply to enable ASRS in Sustainability Explorer, or to deploy the supplemental files as an add-on to your workspace. Contact your Workiva CSM or implementation partner for details.
Assess gaps for general disclosures of IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards
As announced in October, you can supplement your Sustainability Reporting workspace with additional files to help assess your readiness to report using the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Sustainability Disclosure Standards from the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). With these files:
- The ISSB gap assessment now helps identify gaps in your data collection and reporting for general disclosures of the Standards, in addition to sustainability-related ROs.
- The IFRS-ISSB section of your Factbook spreadsheet now helps ease the reporting of values collected for general disclosures of the Standards.
To learn more, view Prepare International Sustainability Standards Board-ready reporting.
