The 2025 ECD taxonomy addresses a specific tagging requirement in the Pay Versus Performance (PVP) disclosure table by removing a previous restriction on the US GAAP element used for tagging net income (loss) amount within a PVP table.
Guidance now clarifies that filers should use the same US GAAP, IFRS, or SRT element in the PVP table that they use to tag net income (loss) on their primary audited financial statements, thereby promoting consistency across disclosures.
Using a US GAAP Element in the ECD PVP Disclosure
The following steps guide you through updating your current PVP tagging to match the net income concept from your income statement disclosures. This applies for users tagging a document using a 2025 GAAP taxonomy (including ECD) or the 2025 ECD taxonomy.
- Navigate to the XBRL/XML toolbar and click Attributes, then select Borrowed Concepts from the menu. A window will display all concepts that are eligible for borrowing.
Select the disclosure that you wish to update. The display will show the current concept and the concept that will be replacing the current concept.
Note: There will not be an option to Replace with concept the first time this menu is accessed. A concept must be selected to show in this window.
Click Add Concept to select a new element. This will open the Concept Selector, where you can choose the element you wish to use as a replacement.
Note: Guidance clarifies that filers should use the same US GAAP element in the PVP table that they use to tag net income (loss) on their primary audited financial statements.
- Select the concept and click Apply. You may now close out of the Borrowed Concept window.
- If the original Net Income (Loss) concept was tagged in your document, you will need to update the tag to reflect the new concept you chose.
- Navigate to the location of the Net Income (loss) tag in your document. Select the fact and click Replace. This will open the Concept Selector, where you can search for and select the same concepts used in steps 2 and 3.
