You can use quick edits to brainstorm ideas, get information on an unfamiliar topic, edit your existing content, draft new content, and more.
Generate content with quick edits
To create content:
- In a section or paragraph with no content, view the left margin of the document, and click on the Workiva AI icon.
- Ask Workiva AI to create new content based on your document, or select a suggestion to help you get started.
- Click the arrow button to submit your prompt.
- In the right-hand panel, the intelligent companion will automatically show your response.
At the bottom of the response, you can Insert, Copy, or Refine the generated content.
Note: If you select Insert, the response will be inserted based on your cursor’s location. Make sure to move your cursor to the desired location before selecting Insert.
With quick edits you can also refine your current text in your document such as, shortening, changing the tone, or elaborating.
Edit existing content with quick edits
Quick edits, as the name implies, are a way to quickly refine snippets of existing text in your documents.
To use quick edits:
- Select some text in your document.
- Click the floating sparkles icon in blue on the left side of your selection.
- Select one of the provided quick edits from the dropdown menu, or enter your own suggestion in the chat field.
- In the right-hand panel, the intelligent companion will show your newly-created response.
- At the bottom of the response, you can Insert, Copy, or Refine the generated content.
Note: If you select Insert, the response will be inserted based on your cursor’s location. Make sure to move your cursor to the desired location before selecting Insert.
Where quick edits can be used
Quick edits appear in the following locations:
- Inline text
- Tables
- Headers/Footers
- Footnotes
- Floating objects
