Industry insight
Florida's attorney general announced an antitrust investigation into CDP — formerly Carbon Disclosure Project — and the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), following similar investigations and lawsuits from other Republican-led states.
While legal experts will determine the outcome of the investigation — and as politics will continue to weigh in on sustainability practices — it's important to note:
- Investors, customers, regulators, and other stakeholders continue to necessitate the transparent disclosure of sustainability performance, to help ease informed decisions and competitive analysis.
- CDP and SBTi are only part of a larger ecosystem — full of raters and rankers, global regulators, and other standard setters — that continues to progress toward comprehensive sustainability disclosures.
- If the allegations are proven true, addressing such concerns will only bolster the credibility and utility of raters and rankers and their voluntary reporting practices.
In short — all politics aside — sustainability reporting remains a key need to ensure transparency and meet stakeholder demand.

What's new
If your Sustainability Explorer includes CDP 2025, you can now collaborate with other members of your Sustainability Reporting workspace to respond to CDP, with a questionnaire tailored to the specific questions of your company's 2025 submission.
As you draft responses, you can:
- Review response options, scoring criteria, and other guidance from CDP for each question.
- View metrics in Sustainability Program that collect related values, to help inform responses.
- Preview how responses appear in a table, as submitted through the CDP portal.
To get started, set up your 2025 questionnaire — based on your company's unique API ID available in the CDP portal — in Sustainability Explorer.
When responses are ready, a Questionnaire Owner can update the corresponding questions in your company's CDP submission — directly from the questionnaire, no copy/paste required!
What's next? If you also use Carbon, you'll be able to review responses automatically prepared for CDP's Environmental performance modules, then copy and paste them into your questionnaire or update your submission directly from Carbon! To learn more, view Sustainability reporting in Workiva Carbon.
Remember CDP's deadlines! To receive a CDP score, submit your responses by September 17; for unscored responses or any amendments, November 19.
To learn more, view Craft responses to 2025 CDP questionnaire for sustainability reporting in Support Center.
