When using US GAAP taxonomies, there are four different levels of facts. Workiva makes it easy to see the difference among facts tagged with different levels. This is helpful when reviewing facts in a financial document.
Tips:
- If the border or shading doesn’t match the tagging level, check the concept. If it is an extension, make sure it is the correct type (such as concept, text block, table text block, or another option).
- Disabling XBRL for a section hides all outlines and shading.
Level 1 text blocks
Level 1 text block facts begin and end with a page-width green border.
When you click text inside the fact, an orange border appears around everything tagged by the level 1 text block.
Level 2 policy text blocks
Level 2 policy text blocks have a green border around everything included in that fact.
When you click inside the fact and open Fact Details, an orange border appears around everything tagged by that fact. This is helpful when reviewing a document for accounting policy text block facts.
Level 3 table text blocks
Level 3 table text blocks have a green border around everything included in that fact. The following image shows the table and its introductory sentence within the level 3 table text block.
When you click inside the fact and open Fact Details, an orange border appears around everything tagged by that fact.
Level 4 line item details
Level 4 line item details facts can be viewed in two ways. With the Cell Highlights toggled on (which is the default setting), Level 4 line item detail facts will be shaded green when they are fully tagged. When the fact is missing a detail, like a date, the cell will be shaded orange.
With Cell Highlights toggled off, Level 4 line item detail facts have a green triangle in the lower left corner of the cell when they are fully tagged. The triangle is orange when the fact is missing a detail, like a date.
