From the Resources screen in Chain Builder, you can upload text and binary files that will be used by the environments and connections in your workspace.

This might include:

• Calculation business rules
• Automation or batch scripts
• Configuration files for connected data sources
• Seeding files such as header template files

Tip: You should upload only resources needed to enable connections with data sources. Data should never be stored as a resource, except for testing purposes.

Requirements

• You must be a Workspace Admin, or an Environment Admin for the environment where the resources are stored, to delete or overwrite an uploaded file.
• Maximum uploadable file size is 10 MB.
• Maximum preview size within the Resource Content window is 256 KB.

Upload resources

To upload a resource to your workspace:

1. In Chain Builder, from the Resources tab, click Upload at the top right. 
2. Under Upload Resources, browse to the files to upload, or drag them from your file explorer.

   Note: Resource files must be 10 MB or less.

3. Click Create.

Edit a resource

To manage the name or description of a resource or edit a text-based resource:

1. Under Workspace resources, click the resource's name.
2. To help identify the resource and its intent, update its name or description.
3. Under Resource Content, edit the text of the resource as necessary. To select a workspace variable to include in the text, press CTRL + /.

   Note: To update the content of a binary resource, upload a new file to the workspace.

4. Click Save.

Note: The "Resource Content" window can only display files up to a maximum of 256 KB. Larger files, up to a maximum of 10 MB, can still be uploaded and will work properly, but they must be previewed outside of Chain Builder.

View a resource's usage

To view how many or which chains use a resource, such as before you edit or delete it, click its name under Workspace resources. Next to Update Resource, you can view how many chains use the resource; to view which chains, click the Uses count.

Track a resource's audit history

To help track changes, each resource has versioning. To see previous instances of a resource, click its name under Workspace resources, and then click Versions.

Under Version History, you can expand an instance to view its details. To return to the resource to the selected instance, click Revert, Revert, and Save.

Delete a resource

If you no longer reference or use a resource within a chain or environment, a Workspace Admin or Environment Admin can remove it from the workspace. To remove a resource, click its name under Workspace resources, and then select Delete > Delete.

Note: If a chain uses a resource, you can't delete it. To see which chains use a resource, click its Uses count.
