Charts
Display thin line for small change columns
Waterfall charts have been improved to better display small changes or changes with a value of '0'. Previously, these changes were not visually represented, making it difficult for readers to understand the data.
Now, a thin grey line will be shown for any change with a value of '0', indicating the presence of a category. Users can customize the color and border of this line. Very small positive or negative numbers will also be represented as thin lines in their respective colors. This enhancement allows readers to better understand the data and focus on the main message of the chart.
Individual bar border style
You can now set a border style on an individual column in a bar chart series. Previously, you could only set border style on the whole series. This gives you the flexibility to design the chart to reflect your needs. For example, select forecast columns and set a dashed border style with no fill to give a visual aesthetic of non-actual values.
Designed Reporting
Lock Floating Object Properties feature now available in Presentations
Lock Object Properties gives you greater control over your presentation layout. With this update, you can lock down position, size, and all other object properties objects in Presentations. Simply right-click on an object and select Lock object properties. Your layout is now secure from unintentional changes!
This feature was built to ensure uninterrupted collaboration. While object properties are locked, all authors can continue to seamlessly work together on the contents within the object. Examples include changing text, updating cell values, or refining chart designs, etc.
To resize, reposition, or change any other object property, simply right-click and select Unlock object properties. Make your desired changes and lock again.
Note: This is only available in workspaces with the Designed Reporting Extension. Contact your CSM for more information.
Paste content as floating objects in Design Sections (beta)
Pasting content into a design section in a Workiva document now pastes this content as floating instead of inline.
Design Sections is a beta feature available to opt-in Design Reporting customers. To learn more, sign-up here.
ESG
Roll forward ESG Program to new reporting year
When you add a new reporting year to an ESG Program, you can now select what details about its metrics such as notes, assignments, and connected source files to roll forward to the new year.
For metrics with connected source files, you can choose which files to copy for the new year, and whether their copies should retain their connections, input cell values, and other details. If you choose to not roll forward a source file to the new year, its previously-connected value will instead use Workiva Tasks for the new year's data collection.
Workiva Platform
Add alternative text for PDF web accessibility
You can now add alternative text for images, charts, and tables on the Workiva platform to make your PDFs more accessible to screen readers! Using the Object Properties panel, you can enter alternative text or mark an object as decorative which be included when the "Tag for web accessibility" advanced PDF export option is selected.
Binders replace file and add placeholders
You can now replace non-Workiva files your binder and maintain any comments from previous reviews of the original file! In addition, binders now support the ability to add placeholders so that you can add structure to your binder and upload a file at a later time.
For more information, see Create and use binders.
