At Workiva, we routinely monitor the usage and performance of our supported connectors. When a connector is no longer supported by its vendor or simply isn't used by our customers, we may remove support for older versions or discontinue the connector entirely.
When this occurs, you will need to switch to a different connector or update your settings to maintain compatibility with the connected source system.
What happens when a connector version is no longer supported?
Workiva closely aligns our support schedule with that established by each vendor. When a connector's database version falls out of date and can no longer be supported, you'll receive an email from Workiva ahead of the cutoff date with additional instructions. You should use this lead time to upgrade your connector to a supported version.
What happens when a connector is discontinued entirely?
When a connector is removed entirely, any existing chains and commands in your workspace will continue to function, but you won't be able to edit them or create anything new.
This means a discontinued connector can't be used to:
- Create new commands
- Edit existing commands
- Publish chains
- Import or export chains
- Restore a previous version of a chain
What should I do with a discontinued connector?
Although we aim to support discontinued connectors for as long as possible, we recommend moving to a comparable solution as soon as possible. Any shutdown dates will be directly communicated before this occurs.
Because discontinued connectors can't be edited, you only have two options for managing affected chains. You can:
- Delete the entire chain
- Delete the discontinued commands from the chain
Can I view chain runs for a discontinued connector?
Absolutely.
Which connectors are no longer supported?
At this time, only the Oracle E-Business Suite connector has been removed.
How can I recognize discontinued connectors in my workspace?
Discontinued connectors are grayed out within your workspace and cannot be selected. Hover over them to confirm they have been discontinued.
After identifying the connector, remove the affected commands and re-publish the connector.
Are individual commands ever removed?
Yes, sometimes individual commands are removed from Chain Builder even though the connectors they belong to are still active. This typically occurs when two commands overlap in functionality or a new endpoint is introduced that supersedes the old one.
Discontinued commands will continue to function in your existing chains, but they can't be edited or added to any new ones.
