Transparency requirements state that companies must publish their legal Annual Reports themselves and make them available for at least five years. There is no explicit requirement that this should be on a company website, but most companies post their Annual Reports as PDFs on their website. You may also want to include the iXBRL Viewer to provide the interactive XBRL-tagged document.
Local law may also include additional requirements and should be consulted.
To post the Annual Report in the XHTML version with iXBRL, it is recommended that you discuss with your internal IT/web teams about embedding the filing with the Inline iXBRL Viewer, as well as making the .zip file available for download directly from the company website.
Downloading iXBRL
To download and access the iXBRL Viewer, follow these steps:
- In the report you'd like to download, generate XBRL for your entire document.
- In the XBRL generation panel, download the iXBRL Viewer from the new generation. This will save a .zip on your desktop named after the report.
- On your computer, unzip the downloaded report file and extract all files.
Note: The entire .zip folder should be sent to the IT/web team for upload.
- In the location where you extracted the files, find the .htm file with the iXBRL Viewer. This is the file that should be used to post your report with the iXBRL viewer.
The XBRL generation used should match the version used in your final submission.
