Workiva scripts can be copied, moved, and imported or exported between workspaces. Each of these methods can be used to transfer scripts to different locations, but they differ slightly in their implementation.

To copy a file or folder:
- Find the file you want to export in Home or Files.
- Click the dropdown menu on the right side and Copy .

- (Optional) Enter a name for the destination folder in the new location. If you don't create a destination folder, the files will go in the destination workspace's main directory in Files.
- 按一下「複製」完成操作。
You can see the status of the copy in the lower right, and can download it from the Workspace settings - Content screen. You’ll also receive an email with a link to the copied folder.
Things to know
- You must be a Workspace Owner to see the "Copy to another workspace" button in the source workspace.
- You can only copy files to the destination workspaces you belong to.
Move a script to another location or workspace
The move feature is used to relocate an individual file or folder within your workspace file structure.
It can also be used to move a file to a different workspace, in which case a copy of the selected file is created in the destination workspace. This leaves the original file intact in the source workspace.
Note: You must be a Workspace Owner with Viewer permissions to move files.
To move a file:
- Find the file you want to export in Home or Files.
- Click the dropdown menu on the right side and select Move.
- To move this file to another workspace, click Copy to another Workspace.
Note: When moving a file within the same workspace, simply select a new destination folder here. No further steps are required.
- Review the selected files and click Next.
- Select the workspace where you want to copy your file to.
Note: When a file is copied to another destination, its history and permissions are reset.
- (Optional) Enter a name for the destination folder in the new location. If you don't create a destination folder, the files will go in the destination workspace's main directory in Files.
- 按一下「複製」完成操作。
You'll get an email letting you know when the copy is complete. After you copy a file to another workspace, you can switch to that workspace to work with the file in its new location.
Export or import a script
You can move scripts across workspaces by downloading a compressed Workiva file. This file type maintains permissions when imported within the same workspace, but will be reset if the file is imported to a different workspace.
Note: You must be a Workspace Owner or Content Manager with Viewer permissions to import and export files.
Export a script

You can see the status of the export and download it from the Workspace settings - Content screen. You’ll also receive an email with a link to the export when it is complete.
Import a script
To import a Workiva script:
- Click the Create menu at the top left and select Import > Import Workiva File.
- Drag and drop your tar.gz file -- or browse to find it -- and then verify your file list. 按一下「繼續」(Next)。
- Select a folder name and destination for the import, then click Import when finished.
- When uploaded to a specific location, imported files will inherit the permissions of their parent folder.
- If no file location is selected, your top-level Files directory will be used.
- Click OK to close the modal and continue working.
You can see the status of the import from the Workspace settings - Content screen. You’ll also receive an email with a link to the import when it is complete.

What files are included when I copy, move, or import/export a file?
The script itself, its source, and any applied permissions are included in these operations. Any metadata associated with the script, such as its run history, will not be included.
Note: Permissions are removed if the file is imported to a difference workspace.
If you use scripting elsewhere in Workiva, such as with integrated automations or chain connectors, then those uses are also not included. Any integrated automations that leverage a script must be set up again in the new workspace, for instance.
