New Auditor Tags and the Auditor's Opinion Section
已回答Hi Mike, I have migrated to the new taxonomy, asked my auditors for their preference on where to tag and have the 3 new tags applied. Now that I'm working through overall XBRL, I have a question about the "Report of independent registered public accounting firm" section. Obviously, to allow for the tags, this section cannot have XBRL disabled; however, what if there are numbers in the section? For example, our auditors always state our total company revenue in their letter. Does that need to be tagged? If so, in which XBRL Outline section would it need to live?

Hi Jennifer!
Thanks for the question. I passed this along to our XBRL experts, and they provided the following.
To tag this, you'd need to create an Audit Information XBRL outline section to put those concepts in that section (some of that mentioned here). Regarding "total company revenue", if you are tagging this information in a section that is out of scope of XBRL, you would not need to apply tagging to the values in there. However, if that value is linked elsewhere in your document that does use XBRL, you should incorporate chain linking so the XBRL does not flow through. If you are unfamiliar, here's a Help article on chaining linking.Hopefully that helps some. Do let me know what questions you have and if you need any further assistance. All the best and chat soon!0I should also add that you can also break out the auditor information into a different document section so that you can enable XBRL in that section and leave the linking to the other values in place with the XBRL disabled for that portion of the document.
0Hi Mike, I had already created the Audit Information section and, guessing, I created chain-links for the numbers in the auditor's opinion while waiting for your response. So, sounds like I'm all good! Thank you so much for the quick reply!
0Not surprised, your XBRL kung-fu is strong 😜
You're quite welcome. Holler if you need anything else. 🍻
